PHARR, Texas (8/24/2009) - The tax-free weekend wasn’t the only thing happening at Brownsville’s Sunrise Mall on Saturday. RGV Bravos FC Technical Director Ismael “Moreira” Braga and a half-dozen players participated in a free autograph-signing and meet-and-greet with fans from the lower Valley in the mall’s Food Court.
Bravos FC, in conjunction with Azteca América and Sunrise Mall, gave away tee shirts, tickets to Schlitterbahn Waterpark at South Padre Island, back-to-school kits, signed autographs and took photos with the fans.
"It’s nice to take part in events like these," Bravos FC head coach "Moriera" said. "It’s a great way to meet with the people in the community and share some time with them."
Along with Coach "Moreira" was Assistant Coach Javier "El Gato" Navarrete, Bravos FC forwards Alex "El Principe" Ríos and Jorge Briones, midfielder Edgar Acuña, and defenders Mike Vázquez, Wilfrido Fernández and Pablo Degollado.
The Blue-and-Gold recently returned to the practice field and will continue throughout the fall. Bravos FC will practice this week on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at McAllen’s Springfest soccer fields on South 23rd Street.
